I feel like I'm on some sort of endless treadmill. Weird to think we spend so much of our childhood thinking being a grown-up is going to solve all our problems and yet when we get here the problems just get harder.

Sometimes I wonder if I should have followed in my father's footsteps after all.

I'm pleased to announce I didn't get spifflicated during 1920s day and instead had a swell time cutting a dash in my fedora.

Can't say I'm that great at the Charleston, but I could belt out a good rendition of 'Bye Bye Blackbird'.

Thankfully our flat was spared the worst of the deluge from the laundry flood (putting barrier charms on the door to prevent drafts clearly helped!). Still, the smell was vile and it's a good thing there was no attempt to make us foot the bill for the accident - there likely would have been a mini-riot.

Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be better to live in a house rather than an apartment.

Spring Lotus might have passed inspection, but I don't think it takes a divination expert to foretell that there will be a drop-off of custom. Except for those who want to undertake an extreme diet.

The exhibition at the Comstock was interesting. Having used a muggle camera as well as a magical one while on holiday, I can see the point as still photographs are rather evocative in their way. I particularly liked one of the swans in Hyde Park, frozen in time, their wings outstretched.

Have you made plans for Jay's birthday on Sunday? I only ask because if you haven't, then I was thinking of making dinner and a cake for her, and of course you would be invited to join.

My usual sparring partner was absent tonight and I got paired with a new bloke who is... enthusiastic to put it mildly. Thank Merlin for magical salves, otherwise I would be sporting a truly magnificent black eye right now.

Merlin, it must have been a slow news day for that sort of dribble to get published.

My plans for this weekend mostly involve sleeping and reviewing some of the paperwork that piled up while I was away.

I should sort my photos too. Perhaps it's the genes but I turned into a photographing fiend while I was on holiday and came back with an embarrassingly large amount of pictures. Perhaps I can frame some and give them as gifts....
